Coimbra has the culture in a chokehold and this is just the beginning.
Coimbra’s waking up, and for once, it’s not Lisbon or Porto stealing all the spotlight. Lately, the city has been buzzing with creativity - music, fashion, art - and it feels like a real movement is starting to take shape.
This isn’t just about individual talent. It’s a community coming together, pushing boundaries, and putting Coimbra firmly on the cultural map. The new generations now have strong role models to look up to - proof that the city’s energy is only going to keep growing.
In fashion, Vigilance SB is stealing the show. Drops sell out in record time, pop-ups get bigger and bigger, and the city genuinely rallies behind a brand that feels 100% its own. And it doesn’t stop there: Plug Vintage is also making waves, one of the most influential resell/vintage stores in Portugal, known for its sharp curation and seriously good selection. Excitingly, the store is gearing up to launch a new project called Plug Culture, which promises to further strengthen Coimbra’s creative scene.
In music, the vibe is just as strong. Coimbra’s had talent before - PNG Baby, Lil Ameal, and Holympo already proved the city could make its mark but now, there’s a fresh energy in the air, a sense that something bigger is happening. A key player in this new wave is Andamento Records, a label that’s been helping push local artists and sounds to the front of the culture.
VSP AST is emerging as one of the brightest pearls of his generation. With an out-of-the-box sound and presence, he’s ready to leave a stamp on portuguese culture. Then there’s Bapcatt, who’s been grinding in the underground scene for years. His Bapcave Sessions aren’t just songs - they’re full-on studio experiences fans can’t get enough of.
Trillseco, another underground veteran, is steadily making a name for himself on the national hip hop scene and YUNGVICY from nearby Figueira da Foz, has been killing it with his heavy, consistent sound.
It’s not just music and fashion either. Duarte Nunes, a tattoo artist with a unique style, is connecting art, culture, and music, adding another layer to Coimbra’s creative world.
The most impressive thing? The unity. You can feel it - they support each other and are building something bigger together. Coimbra’s found its gold mine, and the rest of the country is only just starting to notice.
This city deserves our respect.
