The golden era of trap in Portugal.

The trap era in Portugal was a truly unique moment. You really had to be there to witness and feel that energy - something that, unfortunately, has never been replicated in the country. Within the portuguese underground culture, there’s almost a consensus: it was an unrepeatable time.

That was when the first names we now recognize as pioneers began to emerge - Yuzi, Sippinpurpp, Lon3r Johnny, Yuri NR5, Minguito, Manthinks, PNG - while at the same time, an entire culture was developing around them. It wasn’t just about the music: it was community, it was movement. Figures like Gonçalo Afonso, Daniel Pato, Pedro Dórdio, Syl, Yellow Xannies, Oseias, Valdir, Rodrigo Balona and Foreign Heat embodied that collective spirit that spread throughout the country.

Brands like One Step Forward, Scheme and WAVV also played a huge role, shaping the aesthetics, supporting the movement, and helping give this era its own identity. They weren’t just brands - they were part of the culture.

It was also during this period that the first parties appeared, becoming true cultural phenomena - like It’s a Trap, which quickly grew into a national sensation, and Capri, in Porto. The vibe and the energy at those nights were incomparable, impossible to put into words. You simply had to be there to feel it.

It wasn’t just an era of music - it was a cultural revolution that marked a generation, and its echoes still shape the underground in Portugal today.
