Vanish Shawty
Today we’re talking with Vanish Shawty, one of the names that made a big impact on the underground scene last year. Known for an aggressive sound and a mysterious image, he’s already kicked off 2026 with a new project that promises to leave its mark on the year. Today, we’re getting to know a bit more about his universe.
For those who don’t know you yet, how would you introduce yourself?
Trendsetter.
If you had to describe your sound to someone who’s never heard you, how would you describe it?
Uncomfortable, chaotic, and frightening for pop fans.
Is there anything outside of music that influences your aesthetic?
Culture in general - movies, books, fashion, philosophers, painters, everything that inspires me and makes me want to create - I think it’s clear that I draw a lot of inspiration from geek culture, which is probably the biggest influence on my aesthetic.
Do you feel the underground scene in Portugal is still niche or is it starting to become a dominant culture like in other countries?
No, Portugal doesn’t have what it takes.
For such a young underground artist, your numbers are impressive. How do you deal with that?
Shit’s crazy.
Your connection with your fanbase feels very close and special in a way. How did you manage to build such a strong connection?
It was something developed from the start. Portugal was stagnant, they saw something new and embraced the idea. I feel they are a key part of the progress, and I have a lot of affection for everyone.
This year already kicks off with a new release from you. How was the whole creative process behind your new project “Rabbit Hole”?
I sat down with Tsubi, presented the idea, and explained the context and what I wanted to explore in the project. I went over the references and inspirations, and based on that, we discussed ideas and ultimately achieved the desired result.
Since “Rabbit Hole” came out, how has the reaction from the public and the community been?
The reaction has been positive, people have embraced the idea and the “new” Vanish.
For 2026, can we expect more releases or any surprises from you?
Yes, big things are coming. We have some things ready to launch, and I’m looking for the perfect moment.
And now the big question: when can we expect your face reveal?
As an artist, I want to present an aesthetic, convey a message, and share an energy. So far, I’ve been able to do that without showing my face - is a face reveal really that important?
A positive message to our community :)
Thanks to everyone who has been with us on this project - you are truly incomparable, and it wouldn’t have been possible without you. 2026 still has many surprises in store, you can expect more projects pushing the avant-garde. Shout out to Portufiles, and thanks for the invite.
