We need to give Terraço Norte their flowers.

It’s not like this is something we’ve only noticed now, but it feels like it’s finally time to properly acknowledge the work Terraço Norte been putting in.

Coming from Famalicão, away from Portugal’s two biggest cities, comes with its own set of difficulties. Fewer resources, fewer doors open, fewer opportunities to get things moving - and that’s precisely why what Terraço Norte have been building deserves attention.

There’s a very distinct aesthetic to everything they do. You can tell there’s a vision behind it, and more importantly, an identity. They’re not just making music videos - they’re building a world around the artists they work with. Every video seems to raise the bar a little higher.

Norty and Mx have been two of the main names associated with their work, both coming from the same area and part of a movement that goes way beyond any individual artist. However, reducing Terraço Norte to those names would overlook one of the most interesting things about what they do: their versatility. They’ve worked with Joint One, Yung Juse, Tiago Mob, Yuri NR5 and even Vigilance. Different artists and different worlds - yet they still manage to leave their own visual stamp on each project.

And there’s clearly something happening around that area. Guimarães, Famalicão and Braga are increasingly starting to feel like a little cultural hotspot. Artists, brands and creatives videographers are emerging, working together and building something special.

From Mx and Norty to the former Quarenta e Oito, Cardu, Etereo and a whole range of other names coming through, there’s a scene taking shape in the Minho - and we’re here to witness it.
